An Honest Consumer Product Review of the Samsung Dishwasher

My Books and Articles

It is a phenomenal fact of life that when you buy a particular brand-name product, you oftimes assume that other products under that same brand name would be as good, or as bad, as the particular item that you purchased. Unfortunately, it isn't always that simple. A fabulous television or camera doesn't necessarily mean you will get a great cell phone or dishwasher or vise versa.

I would like to take a little time here to talk about the Samsung Dishwasher. Thinking that the washer and dryer of the same brand, which I had purchased over a year ago, was such a good investment, I stepped into a quagmire of the above mentioned consumer delusion. A couple of months ago my dishwasher broke, so I decided to go for a Samsung Dishwasher. Even though, the salesman at the store highly recommended the Bausch, I had my heart (bad idea) set on the Samsung brand.

The quality difference between the washer/dryer and the dishwasher is astronomical. The dishwasher has to be set on Heavy-duty and Sanitize (which takes approximately 3 hours to wash a small load of dishes) to get even the most minimal amount of refuge from the dishes-and that's after rinsing them off in the sink first! This is one product I will never make the mistake of purchasing again and would never recommend it even to my most annoying antagonist! There is nothing I like about this dishwasher and for the price, it should do everything but dust your furniture!

I have only myself to blame for still having this monstrosity in my home, as I should have taken it back after the first week. I kept thinking that I was doing something wrong and kept reading the book over and over to make sure I was following the instructions to the letter. Since my husband and I live alone and our favorite pastime is going out to eat, we have very few dirty dishes to wash up and sometimes I would just wash them up by hand. This could be part of the reason that I didn't realize our dishwasher wasn't up-to-snuff as my Grandpa would say.

If any of you have already bought this item, I hope you purchased yours when the assemblers were having a good day.

Just Purchased the DMR77 on the 22 of August 09, Installed it on the 25of August 09, Didn't clean the dishes nor did it dry them, even on the Heavy cycle. The Unit is good looking but not worth the money. Have had 2 service men come out and look at it. There conclusion was that the dishwasher was going through all the cycles and working properly but not cleaning the dishes. My old Kitchenaid of 10 yrs befor the hurricane ( Katrina) I m not getting any satisfacition from the Samsung manufacture; They are telling me they donot give refunds. I have never paid that much for any appliance. I am seeking legal advice. "Del "from New Orleans

Hi:

Pros: stainless steel, large tub, electronic touch control
Cons: Purchased in Dec 08. Commenting Sept 09.

Does not clean dishes at all. Very poor design and quality control.

As I am commenting an appliance repairman is replacing the motor. Must run hot water in sink before turning on in order to achieve any form of cleaning. Cannot use powdered soap. Buttons are so sensitive to touching that I have had to tape a piece of cardboard over them to prevent accidentally activating the dishwasher in the middle of a cleaning cycle; to do so means you must run the whole cycle again from the beginning as there is no memory of where it left-off.

I am replacing the worst appliance I have ever purchased this week. I spent 800 dollars on it 9 months ago. What is the point of keeping it?

I am so dissatisfied with Samsung I will not buy another item as long as I live.

I have been having the same problem with the oversensitivity of my DMR57 Samsung dishwasher button since I purchased it just 5 months aqo.. Every time someone brushes against the machine, it either shuts on or off and yes, you are right: the darn machine has no memory of where it left off. Since yesterday, I have been receiving an LE message, which indicates that the machine is leaking. I have checked and found no leaks however. The machine no longer works at all. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG. Brendan Walsh, Montreal, Canada.

Just attempted to run my first load of dishes through my new Samsung dishwasher (two days before Christmas) and it looks like I'll be without a dishwasher over the holidays. Nice....LE error and in calling the Service Center, they advise a qualified technician will need to make repairs. I told hubby, call the store where we bought it and have them take it back. I just replaced all my kitchen appliances with Samsung, fridge, oven, over the oven microwave/range hood and this very large dish storage unit. Anyone want to help handwash dishes over the holidays. Can't say I'm impressed.

DO NOT buy a Samsung dishwasher. I bought mine from Lowes in may 2009 and am on my 4th samsung dishwasher. Ive had 2 that had error codes on their first cycle out of the box and the other 2 not long after. I'm so glad I bought the extended warranty. I'm going to go with a Bosch or whirlpool.  Very frustrating!  arrrrrrrrrr

I also purchased the Samsung dishwasher from lowes, dishes are dirty, very wet, takes 3 hrs to run this energy efficient appliance? That's of course with the recommended by the serviceman heavy duty wash and sanitize rinse options no matter the size of the dish load, just to be sure they come out reasonably clean. 9 months old, paid cash, serviced once already, now throwing the SE code for System Error. Lowes has been no help what so ever, I tried to return it in the first 30 days when it needed to be serviced, they wouldn't even talk to me about it, I even offered to buy the new one there and spend twice as much, still they said nope, have it serviced. So I guess its back to the store and time for a talk with the manager, worst part is, even with all the extra washing and rinsing, the reasonably clean dishes, smell of hot garbage. Never had this issue with my old whirlpool, in the exact same location with the same hookups! Bumming in Flint, Michigan!

I am SO GLAD I came across this article today! Yesterday, I made the mistake of purchasing this dishwasher. It ran for approximately 4 minutes before flashing error code "LE." I returned this hunk of junk for a full refund and exchanged for another brand!

In the article it says that the salesperson recommended the bosch dishwasher. I am an appliance technician and there is virtually no difference in the bosch and samsung dishwashers. take close inspection of both units uninstalled and you will find that they are identical, except the obvious branded differences (door panel, control interface). If you are having trouble with samsung not cleaning your dishes, you will find yourself having the same trouble with a bosch. Both are very quiet, efficent, attractive machines, but lack power and dependability. If you are reading this thinking of buying a dishwasher, do your self a favor and buy a strong dependable machine from the whirlpool family (whirlpool, kenmore, kitchenaid, and newly acquired maytag) beware the new kenmore that sits on a bosch chassis.( you should be able to tell from the display unit) if you want a quiet dishwasher get a stainless tub (so worth it!). Also, the myth that any dishwasher is equipped with a "garbage disposal" is nothing more than a sales pitch. This "garbage disposal" is the machines feeble effort to avoid clogging. It is NEVER a good idea to put food in a dishwasher....that is why you have a real disposer in you kitchen sink! Anyway hope this helps everyone

P.S. LE code stands for water LEak dont fool with the computer...check the moisture sensor in the pan that houses the pump and motor(installation cannot cause this problem unless very unlevel)

We purchased a Samsung model DMT300RFW dishwasher from Lowe's for use in our office. After it was installed, the water started to leak at the bottom during a test cycle. Samsung was called and the service technician came two days later, he then sent in a request to have the unit replaced under warranty, and suggested that we call Samsung customer service to follow up a few days later. We contacted Samsung customer service and was told the request for a replacement has been sent to appropriate people, and we should expect the replacement within 7 to 10 days. Why does it take so long to get a replacement? Samsung customer service representative reply was: that is how long it would take to process. This is enough for us to think twice before even consider buying Samsung product again.

we also bought this model from best buy in may. it is very quiet, but it does not clean or dry most of the dishes. you have to decide what is more important - quiet or clean.

I too purchased all Samsung appliances for my kitchen, and agree the dishwasher is the worst appliance I ever purchased. The only thing worst than the dishwasher is samaungs customer service. They know they made an inferior product, they know the Letteing wears off, the dishes don't come out clean, yet they do nothing to adress this matter except refer you to a local contracted appliance service center who want to charge you $79.00 to just come out and look, everything else is extra. The lettering wearing off is totally inferior workmanship! The samsung company should be held accountable and stopped from taking our money and running like a thief in the night. I say CLASS ACTION.
