Product Review for a Consumer Purchase---Samsung Washer/Dryer

Many years ago I subscribed to a magazine called Consumer's Report and it became my Bible as far as purchases were concerned. The last few years I have gotten away from the report and tend to take my chances or rely on family and friends to recommend a product before I spend my money.
What you always have to keep in mind, though, is that no matter what you are buying there are lemons and there are LEMONS. Your family member or friend may have gotten a good product; then you may go out the very next day and get the lemon for that week. I was once told that it is not a good idea to buy a new car if the car was built on a Monday. How anyone knows the day of the week a particular car came off the assembly is unknown to me. Maybe they are date stamped somewhere at the end of the line?????
Actually, that thought never crossed my mind again any time I was out cruising the car lots for my next shiny new cost-as-much-as-a-house vehicle. My husband always checked out the mechanicals, engine, tires, etc., etc., and I checked out the color, the number of drink holders, and all the bells and whistles. I left it up to him to determine that the vehicle would run smoothly down the road; while I focused more on that it looked good while it ran smoothly down the road. With vehicles, for some reason we were always lucky and never had any complaints with any that we purchased.
Housewares-specifically appliances is my area of complaint and accolade. Last year for Christmas my husband bought me the most beautiful (RED) set of Samsung Washer and Dryer-on pedestals, yet. Being up on pedestals is wonderful for me since I have a bad back and bending is next to impossible. They do almost everything-the buttons even have buttons. They buzz when finished and then play the most adorable musical jingle you could ask for. Now, the real issue-were they worth the huge price for the glitz and glamour?
I have to say that I truly admire this washer and dryer. I have yet to find any complaints to list about them and I have had them for just over a year now. The washer uses he (High efficiency) detergent and fabric softeners which cut down on the amount needed of each. The washer and dryer both have sensors that can evaluate the size of the loads and set the run time accordingly. The dryer senses the dampness of the clothes also and sets the run time accordingly. They have child safety locks and a special rack for drying sneakers, stuffed toys, and foam rubber pillows. I especially like the SilverCare function of the washer for sanitizing your laundry. The pluses for this washer and dryer are just too numerous to mention and I highly recommend the set for anyone who believes that you pay for what you get. They are a bit pricey, but well worth it.

When I was in highschool I remember having to search through that magazine, Consumer Reports and thought it was the most boring magazine. As I became an adult, I also found the articles on the products to be extremely interesting as they were tried and true. I have been thinking about purchasing a new front load laundry pair...I'm a little sceptical about the SilverCare. Is it really worth it? As a hockey / soccer mom of two kids, I think this would be a great feature but the washers with the feature are $500 more expensive than those without. Secondly, does your washer and dryer shake or vibrate...what floor level do you have yours on?Dani
Hi,several years ago I took a chance and bought a Samsung refrigerator (not a familiar name at the time) and it was a good fridge. I recently was shopping for a washer and dryer and decided that the Samsung would be a good place to start. I found a pair that were reasonably priced (as front loaders go).I got the washer and dryer delivered and I am not happy with the amount of water left in the machine once it is finished. I am not happy with the suggestions from Samsung to : leave the door open so that it will evaporate (there is too much water to evaporate) or throw a little bleach in there if it starts to smell funky. I think these are unsatisfactory solutions. As well I was given poor advise by one representative (to tilt the machine slightly forwards) as was pointed out by the next representative that I spoke to the next week that said that would damage the washer drum. I am returning the set as I am dissatisfied with the machine but mostly because of the the customer service from Samsung.If they would have someone come out and unstack and properly level and then see if it would drain properly then stack them again I would consider keeping them but the customer service department doesn't care that I am taking them back!!??? Times must be good for Samsung.
I bought a Samsung front load washer/dryer on Dec 26/2009. Since then the washer has began to leak from the bottom of the unit. It is not the connection and not the front door not being shut. THERE IS A LEAK! It is still under factory warranty.I have been trying for almost 2 months now to have someone come out and fix this unit. I have spoke with several different "Samsung representatives" who take the same infromation I gave the first 6 times and then finish the conversation with "We will have a rep call you in two business days." I am not sure what a business day to you people means but in two months I have not recieved a call back. It seems like they are just riding out the phone calls till the warranty runs out. Classy move Samsung. I am using my washer at least 2 times a day, meaning I am cleaning up a leak everyday. I spoke with Leons Sarnia Ontario Canada and they said they cant do anything about it. Thanks for selling me the crap. Since this issue I have been in the need of new appliances and have turned down all Samsung offers/ deals. I had recently bought a Samsung dishwasher and returned it two days ago because it is a Samsung. My wife and I both own Samsung phones that are great, but are trading them in becaus they are a Samsung. I could probably get a plumber out to fix this, but it is the PRINCIPLE.
I will be posting this on any website that I find rating any of the Samsung products and services.
